This bass features one of McGrath Guitars most popular finishes: Red Flame, hand-painted by Madelyn McGrath.
This bass highlights a lot of firsts for McGrath guitars. The first and most striking is the MM/J pickup layout. The EMG MMHZ pickup is positioned right in the Stingray "sweet spot," paired with an EMG JHZ in the neck position for warm low-end and some growl. This is the first McGrath bass to feature the McGrath Programmable 12-way rotary switch with only two pickups! Although there are two pickups, there are three coils, so you can almost think of it as a three-pickup bass. You can achieve all 14 tonal possibilities and use the McGrath app for the ultimate MM/J tones, this has never been done before!
This bass is also McGrath Guitars first P-style bass to feature a side-mount jack, which was done to keep the control layout clean and allows for maximum ergonomics. The preamp is an EMG B64EQ, a 3-band modern-sounding preamp for maximum tone sculpting. The master volume features a push/pull bypass for the preamp.
The other first for this bass is the Hipshot A-style bridge!
