This is one of McGrath Guitars flagship Thunderhorse basses featuring their new 12-Way Programmable Pickup Selector and Tilt EQ!
The body and headstock are finished in satin Peach, perfectly complemented by blacked-out Hipshot hardware and Dunlop StrapLoks for a killer contrast. This McGrath Thunderhorse bass features high-output passive Billy Sheehan Signature DiMarzio pickups, the exact same setup we recently built into a custom bass for Billy Sheehan himself.
Electronics & Innovation
The pickups route straight to McGrath Guitars proprietary 12-way rotary selector, a feature we are extremely proud of. An accompanying app is currently in development to customize your selector options down to as few as 2 positions if desired.
Next comes McGrath Guitars latest innovation, the McGrath Tilt EQ — a single-pot preamp featuring a tilt EQ and buffer. Turning the center-detented knob one way delivers beautiful, glassy highs, while turning it the other way yields rich, powerful low end. You can easily bypass the active preamp using the push-pull function on the Master Volume. They have also included a passive tone control for ultimate versatility.
This McGrath Thunderhorse is powered by an 18V active system, the electronics are designed with a built-in failsafe. If you run out of battery power during a live set, simply pull the volume knob to bypass the preamp, and the 12-way selector automatically defaults to running all three pickups in parallel passive mode.
