They’re great on my string through bass but on my other one the taper makes the strings ring this bad harmonic around and after the 12th fret on the bottom 3 strings. One of the threads is a lighter shade of purple on the headstock.
Please check your strings to ensure they have not been twisted during the installation. On your bridge with the silver hardware, that is a quick release bridge... Loosen the string tension and remove the ball end from the bridge. The string should lay completely flat across the neck, put the ball end in place, and bring it back up to pitch.
Your 5-String with the thru-body stringing, when installing these strings, ensure they are laying across the fingerboard and then insert into the tuning machine and turn the machine to bring the string up to pitch. Do not wrap the string around the tuning post as this will twist the core and result in unwanted harmonic tones.
Regarding the silk color... sometimes it will vary from string to string. Each string is not wrapped at the same time. Depending on the spool of silk they use it may be a slightly different shade. This will not change the tone of the string.
