Ken Smith Slick Round Bass Strings have an outer winding that starts as a round wound and is ground into a semi flat-wound string. The result is a thick, full sounding string without the brilliant bright high end found on a traditional round wound string. The Nickel Iron Alloy allows for a very long string life.

First let me say my disappointment is with these strings themselves, not Fret Nation!! I've been using GHS Pressurewounds for quite a while (less finger noise than roundwounds) but wanted to see if these strings gave even less finger noise. Previously I'd used d'Addario half rounds and GHS "Brite Flat" (stupid name) ground wounds but they sounded muted with no brightness at all. I gambled on these strings and lost!! They are as dead and muted as GHS Brite Flats. The strings I like the best are EB Cobalt Flats but they've become prohibitively expensive. I'll likely go back to GHS Pressurewounds.
Thank you for your feedback! These strings are going to be warmer and duller compared to a traditional roundwound or even the pressurewounds. The Cobalt Flats are worlds brighter than these strings. The GHS Brite Flats / Ken Smith Slick Rounds are going to feel a little grabby at first, your fingers are going to polish the ground edges to be smoother. In the future, please reach out to us and we are happy to guide you towards something that will more fit your needs so you aren't gambling on different string types.
