Haven't had these on my bass very long but so far these are the goldilocks strings for me.
I've tried Chromes, DR Legend, Fender 9050, D'Adarrio halfwounds, Ernie Ball Cobalt flats, may be one other kind I'm forgetting. All great options and have things I like about each of them but each also had something that wasn't quite hitting the spot for me. So far these Dunlops are the ones I've been looking for.
It's hard to really describe them since nothing really stands out but I think that's their strength. They just sounds and feel like you would expect a bass string to sound. Very even and balanced across the strings, just the right amount of round-wound brightness, with a solid low end and clear but smooth high end. Sound good up and down the neck on all frets as well—some strings I've found have had slight dead spots or loud spots that can be distracting. Tension is right in the sweet spot, easy to play and dig into but not as prone to buzz of clack from being too floppy.
Also a shout out to customer service. I somehow managed to by medium scale accidentally despite double and triple checking since I've done it before... return/exchange was very easy.
Love these strings. Meaty, enough highs to cut and no finger noise.
Best service ever! I will purchase again. Consider me a very happy new customer.
The Dunlop Flatwound Bass Strings (45-105) are great strings! They have a nice smooth feel and are not stiff like some other flatwound strings. They come in a variety of gauges and super responsive. I highly recommend them for any bass long scale or short.
Great service!
My best choice since 2010
