Although I've been playing bass for about 50yrs I never really tried flats until 6 or 7 yrs ago when I got my first P bass. I first tried Fender flats because they're the least expensive, I found them to be a bit stiff & have more tension than I care for but I knew flats take awhile to break in & eventually they did after a year or so.
I saw someone on FB recommend DR Legend flats & said they were med. tension & have that broken in feel much sooner than other flats. So I bought a set & they were exactly right & they have become my favorite flats.I have them on 2 P bass & on my Epiphone Jack Casady Signature.
I recently picked up a 2nd Squier VM Precision 5 string for a great price & figured one of them should have flats but I'd never tried flats on any of my 5 string basses so of course I'd have get some DR Legend flats. Man do these sound great even the low B string notes are tight & defined !! These flats don't just go thump, they have great tone & bit of brightness with the tone rolled up. Played my first gig with them last weekend & got compliments from other band members on the sound of my bass. These are my go to flats along with others from DR.
Also I'd like to give a shout out to Jason for giving me a great deal on these !! I responded to an email about a sale on some of my other favorites DR Pure Blues & asked if Legends would ever be on sale. He explained it's a DR promotion & didn't know if those would come on sale. But he asked me what I needed & came back with a discounted offer & free shipping !! Got them in less than week & in time for my gig !!! Fret Nation is my go to for my DR strings, maybe a new bass in the future too.
