F# string seems better than the nickel set.

On an NG2, the F# string sounds better to me than the Dingwall nickel versions I've tried. It still sounds a little different from the other strings in terms of brightness. My impression is it's still better than the nickel, but I don't have them side to side to compare. In the box, the 170 F# did not come in it's own labeled paper envelop like the rest of the strings. Leads me to think it was made separately, similar to the nickel string packaging.

Thank you for your feedback! The F# strings are so large, they can not be wound in as tight of a coil to fit inside of the paper packets the other strings are in. The strings are simply not flexible enough. They barely fit inside of the box. In general strings are not made at the exact same time. Each string is made on its own lathe, they may be done in the same day and they may not be. The strings inside of the pre-packaged boxes like you received are from the same 'Batch' and were not sitting around and combined separately. The F# .170 is simply not flexible enough to be coiled into its own paper sleeve. Enjoy the strings!
